KitKat Easter cake
Here’s the cake for Gaël’s eighth birthday, made with him and for him.
He managed like a pro and chose the decoration…

Preparation
-
Step 1
Make the cake in a mould no more than 22 cm across: in a mixing bowl, beat 6 eggs with 150 g of sugar. Add 150 g of melted butter and carry on mixing.
Sift 225 g of flour with 7 g of baking powder. Mix with 30 g of cocoa powder and tip it all at once into the bowl.
Mix until smooth and pour the mixture into the mould, which you’ve buttered beforehand.
-
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Put the cake in and take it out after 35 to 40 minutes (it’s done if you stick a knife blade in and it comes out dry).
Let it cool and cut off the dome so the cake is flat on top.
-
Step 3
Make the chocolate ganache.
Melt 200 g of dark chocolate in the microwave at 450 W for 4 minutes.
Add 20 cl of single cream and carry on cooking for a minute.
Mix until the cream is smooth.
Leave to cool thoroughly in the fridge.
-
Step 4
Put the cake on a wire rack set over a large plate.
Coat it generously with ganache.
-
Step 5
Stand KitKats almost all the way around the cake.
Place your chocolate figures on the cake.
Arrange the sweets however you like (for this one, Gaël had a very clear vision of what he wanted…).
Finish the decoration to your taste… we added two ribbons, blue and yellow, as those are Gaël’s favourite colours ^^.
