Plan for 1 kg of redcurrants to make several desserts
Since you’re getting the equipment out anyway, either make lots of ice creams or go for another dessert: redcurrant panna cottas, say… or set aside some coulis to go with your breakfast yoghurt.
Make the most of the redcurrants from the garden to turn them into coulis, sorbets and other desserts.

Cook the redcurrants with the sugar for 10 minutes, either in a steam oven at 100 °C or in a covered saucepan.
Put them in a smoothie maker or a blender. If you go for the latter, pass them through a sieve afterwards to remove seeds and skin.
Chill, then churn in an ice-cream maker at the last moment.
